The Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in China on 12 December 2025 hosted members of the outgoing and newly elected leadership of the Rwanda Community Abroad (RCA) China in a formal ceremony marking the end of one mandate and the beginning of a new leadership term.

The meeting brought together leaders of the RCA China Executive Committee who have completed their mandate and those recently elected to serve a new term. The event included an official handover process during which the outgoing committee presented a comprehensive report on activities implemented during their tenure. The report highlighted achievements, challenges encountered, and priority areas requiring continued effort to ensure continuity and strengthened performance of RCA China.

During the meeting, Mrs. Hatungimana Mediatrice was officially introduced as the newly elected Chairperson of Rwanda Community Abroad China, assuming leadership of the Rwandan diaspora community in China. Her election marks a new phase of leadership aimed at consolidating unity, coordination, and active participation of Rwandans living in China.

In his remarks, H.E. James Kimonyo, Ambassador of Rwanda to China, commended the outgoing committee for its dedication and contributions to strengthening unity among Rwandans in China and promoting a positive image of Rwanda abroad. He acknowledged the role played by RCA China in mobilizing the diaspora to engage in national development initiatives and community activities.

Ambassador Kimonyo congratulated the newly elected leadership and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to working closely with Mrs. Hatungimana Mediatrice and her team. He emphasized that the Embassy will continue to provide guidance and support to RCA China in advancing the interests of the Rwandan community and strengthening cooperation with relevant stakeholders.

The leadership transition meeting underscored the importance of transparency, accountability, and institutional continuity within diaspora structures. It also reinforced the shared commitment between the Rwandan Embassy and RCA China to build a strong, well-coordinated diaspora community that contributes meaningfully to Rwanda’s development and to the welfare of Rwandans living in China.

With the new leadership in place, RCA China is expected to further strengthen community engagement, promote unity, and align its activities with Rwanda’s broader national development agenda.
