As national exams for upper secondary schools began across the country on July 9, 2025, an inspiring story emerged from Ngoma District, where one student refused to be held back by injury.
Adeline Niyonagize, a 20-year-old student at GS Mutenderi in the tourism stream, began her exams from Kibungo Hospital, where she is receiving treatment after a road accident that left her with a broken leg.
According to local authorities, Adeline was initially admitted to Gahini Hospital before being transferred to Kibungo Hospital, where she was able to start her exams. Alexandre Tuyishime, the Director of Education in Ngoma District, confirmed that she sat her exams without any issues.
In Ngoma District, a total of 6,941 students are sitting for national exams at 27 different examination sites. The exams are scheduled to conclude on July 18, 2025.
