In a proud moment for the entire team at Top Africa News Media, Mr. Ange de la Victoire DUSABEMUNGU, the Chief Editor and Founder, has been honored with the prestigious APO Group’s Inaugural Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Journalism Award for his outstanding contribution in promoting African entrepreneurship.
Mr. DUSABEMUNGU, a renowned journalist and entrepreneur, expressed his gratitude and excitement upon receiving this esteemed recognition. He stated, “Being honored with this award is an indication that our work positively impacts numerous individuals in ways we may not be fully aware of. I am dedicated to writing in order to assist entrepreneurs in their development, as I firmly believe that their progress is intertwined with my own and will benefit future generations.”

In his comment, Mr. DUSABEMUNGU emphasized the importance of progress and how journalists play a crucial role in driving it. He said, “In Rwanda, similar to Africa, everyone is constantly striving for progress. As journalists, we also seek this progress, and that is why we provide support to entrepreneurs through text, audio, or video. This award serves as evidence that the work of journalists contributes to the development of entrepreneurship and society as a whole, and through this development, we also benefit.”
The newly introduced Award seeks to acknowledge outstanding work in journalism, especially with a regional dimension, which highlights the innovation, community impact and strategies of African entrepreneurs. It also recognizes entries that reflect the role of ABH in contributing to the entrepreneurship drive across Africa. The impact of the entries, both in terms of reach and depth, was also considered by the adjudicating panel.
The awards are divided into geographical categories, with an award offered to the journalist behind the best work from each of the five regions in Africa. There is also a Grand Journalism Excellence Award offered to the journalist who the judges deem produced the best article overall. The award selection process consists of two stages: story shortlisting and then final nominations reviews by a panel of senior public relations experts at APO Group, leading to the selection of the regional and Grand Journalist Award winners.

It will be a unique opportunity for entrepreneurial ecosystem players from across Africa to gain valuable insights and witness the top 10 ABH finalists of this year compete for the title of the 2023 Africa’s Business Heroes Winner.
