The National Electoral Commission (NEC) started the dispatch of voting materials including ballot papers, ballot boxes, voter lists, t-shirts, and electoral ink, to all districts on July 12, two days ahead of the presidential and parliamentary elections beginning on Monday and concluded on Tuesday.
According to NEC, there are 2,593 polling stations in total, including 2,433 within the country. There are 160 polling stations abroad and Rwandans there will vote on July 14. Within the country, voting will start the next day and conclude on July 16. The two days will be public holidays in the country.
To ensure seamless and timely preparation, NEC aims to avoid any unnecessary delays on polling day. Each district will receive its electoral materials on the same day, officials noted.
Election coordinators at the district level were tasked with picking up the materials from former NEC headquarters in Kigali and managing their transportation to all sectors in their districts. The materials were already packed, labeled according to destination, and are ready for immediate distribution by Friday morning.
One of the coordinators overseeing the distribution expressed confidence in the process, saying: “It will be easy to distribute the materials since all requirements have already been counted, packed, and are ready for use.
“This level of preparation ensures a smooth and efficient distribution process, minimizing any potential delays or complications.”
