AWS Outposts can now be shipped and installed at data centers and on-premises locations in Rwanda.
Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company (NASDAQ: AMZN), has announced the launch of AWS Outposts in Rwanda. AWS Outposts is a family of fully managed solutions delivering AWS infrastructure and services to virtually any on-premises or edge location for a truly consistent hybrid experience.
With AWS Outposts, the government of Rwanda and customers can now connect to a broad range of AWS services available in the nearest AWS Region for management and operations, running applications and workloads using familiar AWS services, tools, and APIs. AWS Outposts support workloads and devices requiring low latency, local data processing, data residency, and application migration with local system interdependencies. This includes applications that might need to generate real-time responses, communicate with other AWS systems, or control on-site equipment, such as factory floor equipment, health management systems, and retail point-of-sale systems.
“We are excited to bring AWS Outposts to Rwanda as we continue to deliver advanced cloud services to meet our customers’ business needs,” said Jyoti Bal, general manager for Sub-Saharan Africa at AWS.
“The Government of Rwanda, as well as customers who have workloads that require low latency, data processing, or data storage, will now benefit from AWS Outposts, as it enables enhanced service delivery and helps customers scale their businesses. AWS Outposts will ensure that citizen and customer data in Rwanda is securely stored and processed, which is important for highly regulated industries and data sovereignty requirements.”
