Africa has finally witnessed the first Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) Conference. Held in Johannesburg, South Africa, the Africa ETF Investment Conference 2023, was convened by MNCapital Group under the theme Exploring ETFs as a viable alternative for the African Investor.

On this 30 March 2023, the conference saw various speakers and delegates convene and share presentations and ideas based on their expertise. Top among the items of discussion is the need for African countries to embrace ETFs, even as much as there is still a long way to go.

As the world shakes itself from the effects of Covid-19, there is a great need to understand the pitfalls that we need to be on the lookout for, and also get to be exposed to the opportunities that ETFs bring.

Speaking during the conference, Michael Ndinisa, MNCapital Group Founder and CEO noted that although ETFs have been in existence for over 30 years, they are fairly new to the African markets.

lt is for this reason that we have taken it upon ourselves to play our role as a first in ensuring knowledge sharing around this important market,” said Ndinisa, adding that This is a great and much needed opportunity dedicated to deliberations around how institutional investors can be at the forefront of alternative investments.”

Ndinisa went ahead to express his gratitude to the panel of thought-leaders driving conversations throughout the conference, noting that, “Our objective is that these deliberations lead to implementable strategies that will lead to a thriving continent.
