Rwanda National Police (RNP) participated in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Challenge 2024.
The RNP was represented by two SWAT teams; RNP SWAT Team-1and RNP SWAT Team-2, in the five-day Challenge, which started on February 3, in Dubai.
It is the third time that RNP has participated in the annual Challenge, which highlights mental sharpness and physical endurance.
It is designed to foster exchange of tactical techniques and skills among international SWAT teams.
It also provides a global platform to strengthen cooperation between all SWAT Teams and to exchange best practices.
Every year, global SWAT teams converge at the Dubai SWAT training facility to compete in five categories, namely; tactical event, assault event, officer rescue event, tower event and obstacle course.
In the overall standings, RNP-1 and RNP-2 came 12th and 19th, respectively, out of 73 SWAT teams from Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Africa.
RNP SWAT Team-1 was, however, the overall best team in ‘Obstacle Course’ while RNP SWAT Team 2 came 6th.
