The Ministry of Education has announced that girls outperformed boys in the 2024/2025 national examinations for both primary and lower secondary (O-Level).
The results were released on August 19, 2025, in a ceremony attended by government officials, parents, and the best-performing students at the national level.
Minister of Education Joseph Nsengimana, who presided over the event, congratulated the students and emphasized the need to continue improving the quality of education.

He said, “It is important that we keep raising the standards of education. Students, teachers, and parents all play a role in ensuring that learning takes place. We must support our children by encouraging them to attend school and providing them with assistance while they are there.
What we cannot do is pretend that they have learned when they haven’t, but we will spare no effort to ensure they truly acquire knowledge. This is what will enable them to grow and contribute to the country’s development.”
