The Sober Club has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative designed to foster entrepreneurship opportunities for international students. This initiative aims to blend cultural and educational exchanges with hands-on industry experience, promoting employability and professional growth.

Summer School Program: The Summer School Program brings together international students and local students from universities across Rwanda. This program is a platform for cultural and educational exchange, allowing students to learn from each other’s experiences and backgrounds.

Educational Visits and Activities: Students partake in visits to relevant learning institutions, including factories, industrial zones, and service providers. These visits are complemented by engaging activities such as games and storytelling to enhance the learning experience.

International Internship Programs: The initiative also features international internship programs, providing students with practical experience in various industries. These internships are designed to enhance students’ employability and professional growth by offering hands-on experience in real-world settings.

Sober Trips: In addition to educational components, Sober Trips offer exclusive travel experiences for Sober Club members. These trips allow students to explore tourist areas in Rwanda and beyond, including lakes, forests, parks, and volcanoes.

Dr. Gamariel Mbonimana, Director of Research at the East African University of Rwanda (EAUR) and CEO of Sober Club, emphasized the transformative potential of this initiative.

“Our vision at Sober Club is to create a healthier, more conscious, and vibrant future for all people. This initiative is part of our commitment to fostering a global community of empowered and entrepreneurial individuals,” said Dr. Mbonimana.

He further explained the rationale behind the program: “By mixing international and local students, we encourage a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives. The educational visits and activities are designed to provide practical insights and inspiration. The internships offer a bridge between academic knowledge and real-world application, enhancing students’ career prospects.” Dr. Mbonimana noted.

Dr. Mbonimana also highlighted the importance of the Sober Trips, noting that they provide a unique opportunity for students to unwind and explore the natural beauty of Rwanda and its neighboring regions.

“Traveling together strengthens bonds among students and broadens their horizons, making them more adaptable and culturally aware,” he added.

Sober Club has already established a network with local and international universities, companies, organizations, embassies, NGOs, philanthropists, churches, etc, and aims to expand these connections further. The initiative reflects the club’s overarching vision of promoting sobriety and consciousness through enriching and empowering experiences.

As the program gains momentum, Sober Club invites students and educational institutions worldwide to join this transformative journey.

“We believe in the power of collaboration and shared learning. Together, we can create a vibrant future filled with entrepreneurial spirit and innovation,” Dr. Mbonimana explained.

This initiative by Sober Club promises to be a catalyst for change, offering international students a unique blend of education, experience, and exploration, all while fostering a global community of future entrepreneurs.
