African Women in Media (AWiM) is pleased to announce the launch of early bird ticket registrations for AWiM24, our 8th annual conference.
AWiM in partnership with Article 19, will host its 8th annual African in Media Conference from ‘’5 – 6’’ December 2024, in the Senegalese Capital of Dakar
The conference theme, Media, and Sustainability is explored from three key perspectives: media business and financial models, sustainable development goals, and Artificial Intelligence.
Media businesses can achieve sustainability by diversifying revenue streams, embracing digital transformation, and fostering inclusive storytelling. Conversations at the conference will feature how prioritizing audience engagement, supporting women-led and women-owned businesses, and balancing economic realities will ultimately promote economic resilience for women-led and women-owned media businesses.
With a global lineup of speakers, the event promises to be a landmark gathering, featuring meticulously curated sessions addressing innovative strategies, delivered through equally innovative formats including panels, fireside chats, fishbowl sessions, workshops, and exhibitions.
“We are thrilled to bring the 8th African Women in Media conference to Senegal”, said Dr Yemisi Akinbobola, cofounder and CEO, of African Women in Media. “It is not often we consider the expertise and voices of women in media when discussing media ecologies. Whilst we discuss critical industry developments, challenges, and opportunities, we must not forget the impact and voices of women. Doing so only encourages us to repeat past gaps.”
The Regional Director of Article 19, Senegal and West Africa, Mr Alfred Bulakali. who expressed his delight at the collaboration said ‘’the AWIM Conference 2024 in Dakar is a testament to the importance of bringing diverse voices together to tackle the pressing media issues of our time. In today’s rapidly changing media landscape, sustainability is not just about preserving the environment, but also about ensuring that media organizations are resilient, independent, and equipped to face challenges, such as disinformation, violence against women, and economic pressures”
Early Bird tickets are now open, and AWiM Premium Members can secure their tickets for as low as $50. Secure your early bird ticket now and join the conversation that will shape the future of media in Africa!
