Journalists from 21 African countries have visited the United Cities and Local Governments North Africa Regional Office in Cairo.
Incoming Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Lord Councillor (Workers) Mr Stephen Ouma Bwire (2nd left), and the Director North Africa Regional Office in charge of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) in Africa Ambassador Dr Mohamed Higazy (3rd left), addressing African journalism students in Cairo.
The conference discussed, among others, the need for the transformation of new cities from existing old setups. Participants also discussed the current state of management of the river Nile water and controversies encountered in the Nile Basin Initiatives.
UCLG is the umbrella International Organisation for cities, local and regional governments, plus Municipal associations.
